袁智勇,博士,研究员,博导。主要从事动物多样性和保育研究,致力于物种的鉴定、形成和物种多样性格局的形成及野生动物保护工作。目前已发表在National Science Review, Systematic Biology, Conservation Letters, Current Biology, PNAS等期刊上的SCI论文50余篇,描述两栖爬行动物新种17个,主持国家基金和省部级基金共6项,横向课题3项。受邀MBE、ME、MPE、BMC Evolutionary Biology、Zoological Research等国内外著名学术期刊担任审稿人。多次组织进行两栖爬行动物野外调查,尤其对中国南方地区和泰国有丰富的野外工作经验。作为主要成员参与了“中国两栖类”信息系统http://www.amphibiachina.org/的创建工作。

主要研究方向:
1.两栖动物多样性资源调查和监测
对物种多样性本底组成的研究,一方面是开展其他生物学问题的基础,另一方面也是对我国动物资源的深入挖掘,服务于国家需求。我们在大量野外科考的基础上(每年平均三个月以上的野外考察工作,野外工作较为艰辛,但充满乐趣),通过整合生物学的分析方法发现了大量新物种,已发表两栖爬行动物新种17个(例如文山湍蛙、陇川大头蛙等),中国新属记录2个(雨林蛙属、越南姬蛙属),中国新纪录9个(沙巴琴蛙、河江棱皮树蛙、泰诺大头蛙等),此外,还发现了大量有待描述的新种。我们的研究极大的提高了对我国两栖爬行动物多样性的认识。此外,我们还在对不同的保护区(例如大围山、文山等国家级自然保护区等)开展两栖爬行动物多样性的考察和研究,以期能指导保护区考察和监测的科学标准,服务于林业需求,推动林业资源的有效管理。
2.两栖动物生物地理学研究
两栖类物种是研究生物对历史地质气候变动的理想类群,两栖类对环境具有很强的依赖性,被称为环境的指示者,同时,它们的迁移能力普遍较弱,具有明显的恋家行为,低的生理承受能力,使该类群易于产生隔离分化,其遗传结构很容易带上历史变动的印记。因此,在对两栖动物多样性全面认识的基础上,分别在种上和种下水平对重要生物类群系统的发生和地理格局开展研究,有助于深入地了解物种的形成、分布和扩散途径,以及生物对古地质和古气候环境变动的适应规律,可为重点保护区域和类群的确定提供科学依据。我们目前的研究工作侧重于两个方面:一是在大尺度上,围绕冈瓦纳古陆的解体以及后期各大陆之间的重组是如何影响生物的迁移和扩散,如何重塑当今物种全球性的地理分布格局;二是在较近的时间尺度上,围绕第四纪冰期气候的波动和全球气候变化如何影响物种的种群波动以及种群分化,从而影响物种的形成和遗传多样性地理格局的形成。
3.两栖动物保护生物学研究
我们的研究团队目前主要集在(1)濒危野生两栖动物的保护生物学研究,聚焦于蝾螈类等极小种群物种的保护和复壮研究;(2)两栖动物壶菌病的保护生物学研究。壶菌病是造成两栖类物种灭绝和种群下降的主要因素之一,是目前对野生动物致病性最大的一类疾病,油壶菌和蝾螈壶菌目前对全球五百多种两栖类具有高传染和高致病性。目前已在欧洲和亚洲多地检测有蝾螈类物种携带或感染该真菌。前期的研究猜测亚洲是两种壶菌的起源地,但缺少确凿的证据。中国具有非常高的两栖动物物种多样性,我们前期研究揭示中国部分两栖动物携带了这两种壶菌,但仍不清楚整体的感染格局和主要传播途径,也不清楚中国的壶菌是否与欧洲的遗传背景相同,又有哪些物种对这两类壶菌具有抗性。我们将通过分离纯化不同地理居群的壶菌菌株,并对这些菌株进行全基因组重测序,揭示蝾螈壶菌的起源中心。同时,将对中国不同地理居群的菌株进行转染实验以确认中国的哪些两栖类物种没有抗性,科学指导后续蝾螈壶菌的生物多样性安全防控工作,避免生物多样性危机的出现。
